To put it simply, both of my parents are completely addicted to an online game called Second Life.
They have been for over a year now.
And I find it completely sickening.
I'm a teenager, and my parents spend every waking moment on that game. I tried it before, and I don't see what they see in it. All they do is play on that game. I've tried to talk to them about it, but they deny their addiction. But all I ever see them doing is sitting on the computer playing that game. They used to be very fun to talk to and loved to travel. But ever since they rarely talk to anyone but their online friends, and I can't remember the last time we did something out of the house. I just don't even know what to do anymore. Sure, I know a lot of people like this game, but it's stolen my parents from me. What do I do?How do you convince someone they're addicted to an online game?
silly as it sounds - call one of the addiction friends and family line. They will offer the best advice, its an addiction same as boozeHow do you convince someone they're addicted to an online game?
Do something to get their attention then try to talk to them. If they don't listen try a more attention grabbing stunt. And if that doesn't work go down to you circuit breaker and turn off the computer and see if they will listen. Just trust me it works with my parents and their addiction to My TV.

uninstall the game, hide the game disc, and observe for yourself. if they keep asking for that game, they're addicted, and should be promptly sent to the psychiatrist nearby you
You can try to ask your grandpa and grandpa to talk to them, or ask your teacher. You can tell them that you need their care and you need help on your homework. Well,, try to figure out many methos to attract their attention. I think they will get bored of it soon. Take me for an example, I love an online game called conquer online very much. I was playing it every minute when I am awake and free. It lasted for about a year. After that, I reduced the time to play it, about a hour each day. Cause my level is high enough, so I dont need to spend so much time to level my character. I still love conquer, cause it is rly cool. I have made many good friends from conquer. So in a way, I can understand your parent's feelings. They won't spend so much time in that game when they get bored. So trust me, don't worry too much.

my dad is a complete computer ADDICT. he works 3 days a week and when hes not at work he is at home on his computer ALL DAY EVERYDAY. he doesnt even sleep or go out. he maybe gets in about 3 hoursof sleep in 24 hours. he constantly drinks and he is ALWAYS playing this online game called "second life" or something like that. he talks to this girl on this game who is 25 (my dad is 48)
it has even got to the point to where he is calling this woman on his personal cell phone that my mom bought for him!! me, my fiance and my brother all think it is rediculous how much he is in contact with this woman. he likes to speak to her while everyone is asleep at late and early hours. my dad has had a past of being into porn and things like that (i know this because i have walked in on him doing things while watching porn) he is a very disturbing man and he is very shut off from the family. he treats the whole family as if we have done something wrong to him. some days he is very quiet and does not want to talk to us at all but then other days he is loud and wants to talk but only about his boring game. so we have to pretend to listen to him other wise he gets upset and says"FINE! YOU DONT CARE SO GO AWAY" i know it hurts my mom so much when he treats us like crap and especially when he yellls at her. i want her to leave him SO MUCH just because shes never known what its like to be TRULEY loved but we have so many bills that if she left him we would lose our home and be broke.

So you have real relationships, sexual encounters, running a business, hanging out with friends...whatever you choose to do. Is it cheating? Sort of. The relationship he shares with this woman is probably virutally real. If you saw what he was doing it would probably look like them two are married in the game and having sex (virtual fake sex that is). I've seen games like that ruin marriages or make them stronger (fit both partners are playing the game), but yes...I do know how addicting SecondLife can be which is why I had to stop playing. It was ruining my "real" life and my social contacts in my "real" life.
Unfortunately, unless a miracle happens, I think it's going to take drastic action to get him off the computer on a more permanent basis...especially if he's already built a "virtual" relationship with this other woman whom he uses to fullfill his "real" life needs. Well, I have to be honest with you, it might not be a good idea to try, and get involved. I would say in this situation, that you need to talk to the one who needs to be making the big changes, and this would be your mother.
Let her know that you feel like your father is abusing his power of financial freedom, as well as disrespecting her. Make her feel assertive in this situation. Second life, is just that, a second life, and he is using it to escape, and needs to be told that. What he is doing is considered cheating, and should not be tolerated.
As for your mom, she probably thinks everyday what you are saying in this question. She just might have some personal issues to deal with on this level. She might think she is not worth the fuss, or not strong enough to do what she must. It's up to you to reassure her. Tell her she is worth more than his bull.
Help her out, and remember, if you go into it thinking you can just talk, then you might just make him mad, and aggravate the situation more.

In the "game of Life", how do I place up to 3 generations on graph paper?
I understand how cells live and die but I want to show how they populate generations on paper?? Online they just flash before your eyes. How would I do that?In the "game of Life", how do I place up to 3 generations on graph paper?
You could use different colors for the three generations, and only use 1/4 of each graph box.
For example, if red is the first generation, and blue the second, and green the third, show the red generation in the upper left or NW corner of the box, blue in the NE corner, and green in the SW corner.
The other alternative would be to show this on three different pieces of graph paper or sections on the same page. The benefit of the three pages is that you can lay one on top of the other and see the previous generation through the paper, and not have to recopy it.

I have heard that there is an online yugioh game which allows you to verse other people around the world and the beauty of it is, that you can type some numbers found on cards in real life to use those cards in the game. Life of ps3 games online?
In the Xbox 360 it is fun to play online multiplayer, but the problem is that after 3-4 months the lobbies turn empty and I HATE it when that happens. Xbox multiplayers games are only popular for a few short months (with the exception of the big ones like GOW, COD or H3)

Life simulation game?
There was an online life simulator I used awhile ago, not Real Lives or anything you have to download. You couldn't see your person but you chose their gender then all of their actions. These choices lead to what kind of person they became ie: risk taker, goodie, whatever. The screen background was just black and you clicked on coloured icons that represented like social, economic, education, physical, ect.

More of an online group thing than an actual character game. The Movies is a good option. You're managing a movie studio with lots of little characters. They can have romantic interactions or you can work on different aspects of their acting skill. Custom create your own movies. Another good option you might want to try is Supple. Supple is a talking sims like game where you follow a character through her career and try to get not only the promotion and the praise of her boss, but the love of the office stud too.
Kudos and Kudos Rock Legend are good. There's no character you follow around. Kudos is where the character is you and you're making life decisions that effect the outcome of your life, the career path you take and the job you get. See how far you can get by your 30th birthday. Kudos Rock Legend you're a struggling rocker. You pick other band members. Write songs, go to concerts, buy new stuff for your band, perform charity shows, field offers from product promoters. Try to get your band to be a true rock band.
Another one you can try where you follow a character around is Miss Popularity, which lets you control the life of a young girl as she tries to pass school, get money with after school jobs, catch the boy of her dreams, and become popular. That one has a lot to do with what she's wearing and what she's studying. What you choose for her to say. Etc. There are some good visual games that have the same kind of graphics as Sims but not necessarily the same type of game play. Or messengers for that matter that are 3D like sims (imvu for example - which has some games to play). Some are free, some are not. So it kinda depends what you're after.

Is there hope for my marriage? My wife met a man on an online game?
My wife is in love with another man from the internet. Right now our life has been difficult because we are plagued with money probs. Both of us have been playing Second Life (an online interactive game) since oct of 06 to escape reality. In Nov she said she was falling in love with a man on the game and they have been intimate "in game". This nearly tore our marriage apart and sent me into the deepest depression of my life.
By Jan, everything was resolved and life when to back to normal. She has done it again. The new man has been making calls from UK to where we live in US often, she spends more time with him online than I do during the day due to the hours I work. The other day she told me she doesn't know if our marriage will work anymore because of her other relationship.

I have never played on line games but I have to say Thank-You. People forget how hard a marriage is. Thank you for reminding me. I will tell my husband how much he means to me. I am not poking fun at you, what you are going through I can imagine. I was there when my spouse stepped out for real. We made it through and you will also. You have a deep love for this woman, remember it was not physical contact, you cannot control her actions but you can control yours. When Some one is having these feelings they just need validation and are going through depression. She needed to find a way to escape. You need to find a way to bring yourself to reality and help guide the way for your wife. You cannot afford counseling all you have to do is call your local catholic charity office. No you need not be catholic, you can also call your local Jewish family center. No you don't have to be Jewish. both have programs with licensed counselors that are free. At worst they are on sliding scale. Both will be able to help build your family back. Your wife does love you. Right now she does not love herself. If one does not show love for them self they cannot show it to others. Spouse or no spouse.

Sorry dude, I know that hurts. I was in a similar situation. I was deployed to Iraq and my wife started chatting with this dude from Ireland. I said it was ok because we had an interest in Ireland. I didn't know that it had gotten to flirt status until he called one day and when I picked up the phone he said he must have the wrong number. I knew it was him because of the accent. I also found out that while I was gone, she had gone dancing and even spent the night with some dude. What's wrong with people? Why can't people just be faithful? I can. I don't cross lines at all. Anyway, you'll either have to get counseling or ask her what she wants... reality with you or some fantasy romance with some dude who sits on the computer all day playing games. It's all about happiness and you can't focus on correcting your money problems until you are comfortable in your life. I would just tell her either she's with you or she's not. The new man has been making calls from UK to where we live in US often, she spends more time with him online than I do during the day due to the hours I work. I have never played on line games but I have to say Thank-You. People forget how hard a marriage is. Thank you for reminding me. I will tell my husband how much he means to me. I am not poking fun at you, what you are going through I can imagine. I was there when my spouse stepped out for real. We made it through and you will also. You have a deep love for this woman, remember it was not physical contact, you cannot control her actions but you can control yours. When Some one is having these feelings they just need validation and are going through depression. She needed to find a way to escape. You need to find a way to bring yourself to reality and help guide the way for your wife. You cannot afford counseling all you have to do is call your local catholic charity office. No you need not be catholic, you can also call your local Jewish family center. No you don't have to be Jewish. both have programs with licensed counselors that are free. At worst they are on sliding scale. Both will be able to help build your family back. Your wife does love you. Right now she does not love herself. If one does not show love for them self they cannot show it to others. Spouse or no spouse.

Sorry dude, I know that hurts. I was in a similar situation. I was deployed to Iraq and my wife started chatting with this dude from Ireland. I said it was ok because we had an interest in Ireland. I'm addicted to this game called League of Legends, a game I just found this summer. It's one and a half months in sophomore year (high school), and my grades are:
alg 2: 73%
Chemistry: 91%
French: 95%
Euro AP: 87%
Eng: 84%
I know to some of you these may be good grades and i'm just whining (and to you smart people these are horrible), but these grades make me feel like i'm not a my full potential, and it's all my fault for playing League of Legends. I hate that feeling. I'm also really behind on my piano practicing. In fact, i just had a lesson, and my teacher got all pissed and told me stop slacking off. I feel like trash. THIS GAME IS ADDICTING. I just cannot STOP. Should i just uninstall this game? Just until i build myself up again? Every since this year started, I had the feeling of not accomplishing anything. All my other friends seem like they're doing so well this year, and they're so HAPPY. I feel like the person in the corner... I've been listening to a lot of skillet and eminem. K, this is getting long.This online game is ruining my life... slowly?

Sounds drastic, probably to those who've never experienced it, but yes, uninstall it. Don't do anything short of that.
But then, watch out, you'll probably visit somewhere else on the Internet, (YT, FB, even stupid sections of the Internet you'd never have thought of) more than usual trying to fill the void.
Make plans with friends if you can. Try to do homework without going online or even on Microsoft Word. You'll find yourself saying, "Oh, let me just Google this for a minute." Forty minutes later, you're not even close to getting off. If it means you have to write in your notebook (painfully slower), then so be it.
If you feel like procrastinating though, to a healthy degree, still don't go online. Hang out with your friends, watch TV, something else.
If you have any other games on there, uninstall them too, even ones you don't use anymore. Just to help you get over this. Who cares if you're on level 90? You can't be rational in the long run, but you can be rational in this one moment and realize it's just a game, you've done it before, you can do it again, but much further down the road.
And even this isn't fool proof.
Then again, hopefully you're not as bad as me and some people I know.
*Edit: You know what, I also used to like regular video games you'd play on the TV. I never actually got addicted to them like I would online, and that's saying something because I have a pretty addictive personality with those types of things. If you know yourself well enough that you know you won't become overly obsessed, you could substitute with that a little bit too. 'Cause sometimes TV can be boring and friends are busy or it's late at night.

How do I help my husband's mother?
My husband's mother lives with us. She has for two years. She is a sweet lady, but she refuses to take a bath. My son and I throw up all the time from the smell she leaves behind when she sits and she won't even wash her clothes. Or let us wash them. She can't tell reality from her online gaming life. My own husband thinks she needs help because he has only a brother and sister (his birth cert. says so) he has met them yet she says she has had 8-12 children. (she never can make up her mind.) We even had a key logger put on the computer and caught her writing to a friend that she was going to hurt us all. She won't get any form of ID and I can not afford to have her see a doctor. She has insurance and can go anytime she wants but she won't. My husband wants her gone from here because we are afraid, but says he can't throw her out on the street. Is there anyway to help her because I have a 4 year old and am very much afraid of what is going to happen.How do I help my husband's mother?
I would contact the crisis services in your area. While being stinky and believing she has 12 children probably won't warrant intervention, the information about her wanting to hurt you may. If crisis services does determine she needs in patient treatement, her insurance will have to pay for it. Depending on your state, she may not have much say about it. However, this will not be indefinite, but for a period of time determined by state law. Good thing too because she probably doesn't need long term IP treatment.
If some sort of intervention is offered, IP or with an agency that offers outpatient treatment, it will likely be suggested she is moved out of your house. There are places that help people with mental illnesses work towards living on their own. So, if things went right, she might end up happily living on her own or in some sort of supportive housing.
If all else fails, you could seek legal aid counsel. And you should definitely do this before you decide to "throw her out on the street". Not only is it profoundly unfair to not give her any notice or chance of getting alternate housing, it may be illegal and you may be subject to punative fines.
Put her in a nursing home. She sounds like she really has Alzheimer's....or dementia.

Basic hygeine is usually one of the first things to go with a mental type illness. The delusions of having children ( of maybe she is just lying) is important as well. The gambling can be a compulsion/obsession and maybe tied into a mental illness.
How old is she? It can be a dementia type illness? The threats are not good..
If it gets really bad, you can always call 911 and they will take her to the emergency room and give her a checkup (if you feel like she is a danger to her self or to others)
The best thing to do is is to talk her into getting an assessement. If you can't there are other ways to do it.

She came to live with us, because when I met her for the first time her living conditions were not well at all. After she burned my couch with a cigarette, started cutting books up with scissors, throwing things and acting completely out of control, (my husband was out to sea at the time), I knew it was time we had to do something, before one of us was hurt. When my husband got back home, we approached her together and very lovingly tried to tell her she needed some help, and that we would support her all the way. When she got into my husbands face, I simply put my had on her shoulder to try to calm her down, she slapped me in the face. After that, my husband walked her to the door and told her to leave. We called for help and the police took her to be evaluated. She was released and left town. Moral of my experience: You must get her some help, or she will ruin, hurt, (or worse) hurt your relationship with your husband, eventually destroy your household. Tell her to get help, or she has to go. DO NOT let her get away with this anymore!!! Good Luck!

Multiple choice life game?
It's an online game, free of download and its free. I can't quite find it, or remember the name, i was playing it not to long ago but i cleared everything. You start out as a baby and choose how you want to come out, you go through 7 life phases, and answer multiple choice questions to shape your life. It's from birth to death. It's not sims, or second life.Multiple choice life game?

so i downloaded the game second life (online cartoon game), i downloaded the 2nd viewer version of the game. it was for an update on how the game looks, etc; for windows xp, vista, but it didn't say windows 7? it still works, but its a bit slow and i don't like the way it is on it. is there a way i can bypass this situation ?Second life viewer 2 (help)?

How can I calm myself down while playing a game?
Most of the time when im playing multiplayer games, i'll get hyper and lose focus on the task which is winning the game ( It's one on one games, mostly soccer, basketball, etc. ). Soy un gran fanatico de este juego, y si bien esta version es divertida, debo decir que las variaciones que sufrieron las reglas del juego no lo beneficiaron. Tengo la version de los 80 y me gustaba mucho mas como se desarrolla el juego que ahora en esta version. Se elimino el bono por el "puente del peaje", no hay mas "balance de la vida" con la posibilidad de ser "magnate millonario". Las apuestas sobre la regla numerada tambien fue eliminada... y asi otras cosas que hacian que este juego fuera tan entretenido y original. Si nunca jugaste otra version anterior compralo porque es bastante divertido, sino... keep your money.

I've been having trouble logging in this online game (Second Life) and it's driving me NUTS. Whenever I try to log in, in the log in progress screen my internet would disconnect and the game won't log in of course and I will have to reset the router for the internet to come back. There's this game I just recently heard of called Second Life. It's a viritual reality Instant Message game of where you can meet and chat with people in a virtual world. You actually put your real money into the game to convert to Linden Dollars ($1 = 700 Linden Dollars) to buy your own property, set up your own store shops, buy your own house, etc. It basically is like living a second life. People pay Linden Dollars to other people who are "psychologists" in second life to get advice and help, when in reality, these "psychologists" are just ordinary average joe's down the street. I cant log in to second life the online game?
o.k. i have made a couple acounts useing the same email but different names but i never put in that activation code from the cell phone. and when i did the site didnt accept it so when i tried to finally do every thing right i get a message saying i cant make any more accounts in this household. and i cant log in or recover an account that i never completed nor that the system has no record of my email adress and password or names i used it seems like all that they know is that i made a lot of accounts which are all incomplete due to a glitch an that they have no record of.I cant log in to second life the online game?

If your familiar with the sims, the sims have jobs and they work and earn pretend sim money, and then things could be bought, houses can be built, etc...using pretend sim money.

You can be at secondlife without spending any real money. Secondlife has it's own 'pretend' money called Linden dollars which you can work and earn or enter contests and win Linden dollars. There are also thousands of free items such as hair, clothes, shoes, gadgets, etc. So you really can get by without spending any money at secondlife.

You don't necessarily need to spend money to have fun in second life. Just log on and go meet people, if that's what you want to do. If you want to customise your Avatar there's plenty of free stuff around. I too have played the Sims and second life is completely different. For a start the Avatars are controlled buy real people. It's also not really a game. It's a Virtual World were you can play games if you wish.

Can you take a picture remotely in Second Life?
In the Second Life online game, I would like to place a camera on my sim that is motion activated, taking pictures regardless of whether I am there or not. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

The only way to do that would be to have an alt (alternate account) logged in and take the snapshots from that account instead. Someone would have to sit at the keyboard and watch the screen for the moment to take the snapshots, there would be no way of making it automatic and there's no way to take a pic remotely without at least one avatar being there.

I downloaded this free game and started playing when all of a sudden this animated jumping box started chasing me around.It's hard to describe what it looks like,something like a spinning,jumping box that makes thumping noises.I finally had to close the game,and when I returned it was gone.What the heck was it??Anyone familiar with the online game "Second Life"?
It could be several things. Could you possibly have clicked on something in your inventory and on 'wear' by mistake? If so, the box could have been attached to you, so as you moved, it did too. It could have been another person, who's avatar looked like a box. But it mostly sounds like a gadget that someone created. If it was gone after you relogged, I wouldn't worry about it. You see all kinds of odd things from time to time at SL.

A Question About A Half-Life Game?
Well, basically I purchased a used Half-Life Generation game online and I just got it today. I managed to get it installed but but before I could start the game, it says "Please type in the CD Key displayed on the Half-Life CD case". There's some sort of a long number as well as several letters on the case and I've tried it along with several other numbers found on the back of the case but none of them seem to work. I really need to know where I could find the CD Key. Perhaps the chap who previously owned the game had the tiny booklet containing the key. However, I'd really, really appreciate it if someone could please tell me where or how I could find the CD Key. certain cd keys have letters that look the same as numbers. check and make sure that you typed in the correct letter and numbers. I once had a game where i typed in a B and it wouldn't accept the key because it was actually and 8 but it looked like a B.
