I need suggestions for a good first-person SINGLE-PLAYER pc game!?

I don't have time to invest in getting good (i.e. practicing) at online games (such as counter-strike, Halo, etc). Unfortunately it seems like 90% of all new games are geared towards multi-player. Please give me some recommendations of good games that are either single-player, or have excellent single-player capabilities. I like some degree of a story line, with a definite ending. I'm not crazy about strategy games (Civilization, Warcraft) as they get repetitive.



Here is a list of games I like:



Grand Theft Auto (all of them)

Might and Magic (old, but good... NOT the Heroes series)

Far Cry (best shooter game ever)

Battlefield 1942 (Battlefield 2 sucked... only MP style games)

Half-life 2

Doom (all of them)

Painkiller

Gothic

Devastation (awesome game no one knows about)



If you know of anything else that is similar to these games, I would greatly appreciate the recommendation. I'll even go back as far as 2000 if the game is good enough.

Dynasty Warriors (Series)(PS2)



The game summed up:

Your placed in the middle of a 1000+ man battle (medieval style). You have objectives which are basically kill the enemy general %26amp; protect yours. Which means hack through his army until there all dead.



During which you build up stats - and find better equipment.



More in depth:

The game is based upon 3 century China %26amp; the Romance of the Three Kindoms Novels/Games. There are many playable character. Multiple Story lines. And as depth of backdrop is as deep as you care to discover --- (There are Hundreds of character w/intertwining plots in Romance of the Three Kingdoms)



But you don't need to even care about the setting to enjoy the game - it's just plain fun.
call of duty is a good singleplayer game



Also, if you have the time to play single player then just play multiplayer. Multiplayer is a thousand times more fun and you really dont need to practice. Start with the basics and move from their.

another one is medal of honour allied assault....one of the best ww2 games
Let me give you some suggestions. Quake 4, decent multiplayer and great story mode. F.E.A.R. which has both a great story mode and multiplayer not to mention a killer expansion pack. It will scare the crap outta you. And if you want to throw it back a little bit theres always Halo Combat Evolved. Quake four is a great FPS game that has a great single player story. Unreal 2 also is a great one (not unreal tournament thats a different game). For an oldy but a deffinate goody try Return to Castle Wolfenstien, its a great FPS with a fun and challanging story to it.
